• No, you will not be charged upon booking. We do require a credit card on file to cover any potential late cancellations or no-shows. Payment will only be processed at the end of the workshop. If you'd like to pay separately, we can accommodate individual payments at that time.

  • Children must be at least 16 years old to participate in the tufting workshop without a parent/guardian. Children over the age of 13 are allowed with supervision of a parent/guardian. This age requirement is primarily due to safety concerns, as the tufting gun used in the process can be heavy and potentially hazardous for younger children.

  • Yes, two people may work on one frame, but they would need to book either a medium 27in x 27in frame or a large 35in x 35in frame. The small frame is too small to comfortably share the tufting experience.

  • Absolutely! Feel free to bring your own drinks and snacks. We’re a BYOB (Bring Your Own Beverage) studio.

  • At Meraki Tuft Studio, we empower our customers to create any rug design they wish. While we do provide some suggestions in our rug inspiration section, you are not required to select from those options. After you book your session, you will receive an email containing a link to upload the images of the rugs you want to tuft. We advise choosing images that are not overly intricate, as detailed designs can present more challenges during the tufting process.

  • 1. Choose a Simple Design

When starting out, it’s essential to select an image that is uncomplicated. Complex designs with intricate details can be challenging to replicate, especially for beginners. Opt for images that have clear outlines and fewer colors. Geometric shapes, simple floral patterns, or basic animal silhouettes are excellent choices.

    2. Consider the Size of the Rug

The size of the rug you intend to create will influence your choice of image. A larger rug may allow for more detail in the design, while a smaller rug will require a simpler image that can be easily rendered in a smaller space. Ensure that the dimensions of your chosen image fit well within the size constraints of your tufting project.

    3. Use High-Quality Images

Selecting high-resolution images is crucial as they provide clearer details and better color representation. Blurry or pixelated images can lead to misinterpretation during the tufting process, resulting in a less satisfactory final product. Look for images that are at least 300 DPI (dots per inch) if you plan to enlarge them.

    4. Limit Color Palette

For beginners, it’s advisable to limit the number of colors used in your design. A restricted color palette simplifies the tufting process and helps maintain consistency throughout the project. Aim for two to four colors that complement each other well; this will make it easier to manage yarn selection and blending.
